DIRECTOR OF LEISURE SALES & EVENTS

SUPPORTED BY: President & CEO

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

College degree preferred and a minimum of ten years of experience in hospitality, tourism and hotel group sales. Preferred experience with a Convention Visitors Bureau, Full Service Hotels and Tourism Industry. Must have experience in a supervisory role directing the function of sales, service and experience deliverables. Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and CRM is required.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Director of Leisure Sales and Events leads, directs and executes the duties of group sales, convention services and experience relating to hospitality, sales, convention and event planning and travel activities to include various sales market segments. Sales market segments may include, but are not be limited to, Sports, Military, Ecotourism, Cruise, Group Tours, FAMS, Trade Shows and Attendance Builders. Extensive planning, coordination and communication detail is required with the sales team, convention planners and stakeholders.
The purpose of this position is to ensure the above directives are accomplished and to support the goals of Visit Mobile. The Director must be familiar with Mobile's Tourism attractions/events/hotels and be brilliant with working relationships between stakeholders. It includes the core competencies of Sales, Service and Experience for the Leisure and Convention Guests.
The Director must insure alignment and achievement of sales, service and experience metric goals which include, but not be limited to, increasing the number of annual visitors, stakeholder satisfaction, room night production, attraction visitors, cruise package development. Must be the liaison between Visit Mobile team, hotels, stakeholders, travel agents, group tour operators and the Mobile hospitality community.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Works closely with President & CEO.
• Prepares and achieves department budget.
• Works closely with the Vice President of Marketing & Communications to ensure proper messaging and strategic deployment of leisure and group segments.
• Lead, direct and support business development in key markets that may include but not be limited to, cruise, sports, military and tourism and other markets that may be determined by the President & CEO.
• Achieve business metrics with respect to increasing the number of visitors, room nights, cruise packages, FAMS and other metrics as requested by the President & CEO.
• Must be proficient in prospecting with group markets in Simpleview and other applicable data bases.
• Directs the coordination and planning of events to include reception, FAMS, Convention Planning Meetings and various sales initiatives and support.
• Must possess strong value alignment with Visit Mobile
• Coordination of sales, service and experience between all stakeholders.
• Manages and conducts site inspections.
• Strong professional Image, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive with directing, supporting and executing position requirements.
• Must be task oriented and proficient in time management
• Ability to mine data with respect to data base programs
• Strong leadership skills and proper support and supervision of the Leisure and Event Manager
• Performs follow-up and completion of necessary reports
• Represents Visit Mobile at various events and community endeavors
• Assumes other responsibilities as requested by the President & CEO
• Ability to analyze, prioritize and execute department goals and objectives and follow up on assignments
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, data base management and customer relationship management systems
• Position requires extensive travel
 

LEISURE SALES & EVENTS MANAGER

• Manages changes to convention addresses, contact names and or dates in Simpleview.
• Strong professional Image, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive with directing, supporting and executing position requirements.
