TRAVEL THE WORLD WITH THE EXPLOREUM’S NEW IMAX® FILMS!

New IMAX Frequent Flyer Program allows guest to buy three tickets for the price of two

MOBILE, Ala. – (May 26, 2010) – Is your family looking to get away this summer? The Exploreum has three adventurous destinations and a first-class ticket waiting for you! Starting Saturday, May 29, the Exploreum will show three action-packed films in the J.L. Bedsole IMAX® Dome Theater. Adventures in Wild California, Dolphins, and Everest will give viewers a chance to travel the expanses of the globe without leaving Mobile. And, when you join our Summer IMAX Frequent Flyer Program, you’ll be able to see all three films for the price of two! Frequent Flyer members may see all three films on the same day or choose to spread out their adventure and see the films anytime before Labor Day. Visit Exploreum.com or the Box Office to buy your first-class ticket for adventure today!

Adventures in Wild California dives head-first, literally, into the state that makes up much of our western shore. From the tallest mountain in the continental United States to the world’s largest ocean waves, California has it all. The audience almost needs a seat belt for this edge-of-your-chair film. Viewers feel as if they are dangling between Giant Sequoias or sky surfing over the ocean, and guests will leave the theater with a newfound hankering for adventure. Show times for this film are Mon. through Fri. at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.; Saturdays at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.; and Sundays at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Dolphins gives viewers a chance to swim alongside wild dolphins. In this film, scientists travel to the Bahamas and Patagonia to study the complex world of these graceful creatures. Narrated by Pierce Brosnan and featuring music from Sting, Dolphins will help audiences understand the impact humans have on these animals. This film will be shown Mon. through Fri. at 1 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.

Everest chronicles the true story of a group of climbers who sought the peak of the world’s highest mountain in 1996. After friends and fellow climbers died making this same journey, the group of mountaineers featured in the film show the true beauty of the human spirit as they push on to the top with the heaviest camera to ever record the mountain’s peak in tow. Audiences will be able to view the wonder and danger of the mountain’s icefalls and chasms on the huge IMAX® screen from the safety of their seat. Everest show times are Mon. through Fri. at 3 p.m.; Saturdays at 3 p.m.; and Sundays at 4 p.m.

Adventures in Wild California and Everest will run through Oct. 1, while Dolphins will continue until Nov. 5.

The Exploreum’s operating hours are Mon. – Fri. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sat. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sun. from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Family memberships are available for only $100 and include unlimited visits to the Exploreum, discounts on IMAX films, Gift Shop purchases, camps, birthday parties and more.
