MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — It’s been debated for 15 years. Now, finally, ground has been broken on a soccer complex in Mobile.

Local officials took part in a groundbreaking ceremony Friday. The complex will be located on Halls Mill Road, just west of I-65 and north of I-10. It’s being touted for its ability to impact tourism, but local coaches say it also will help meet the needs of a growing number of kids and adults playing soccer.

“This is one of the biggest things to happen for soccer in Mobile, ever,” said Wayne Etheridge with the youth soccer club, Mobile United F.C. “One thing that held back the growth of soccer in Mobile is the lack of facilities.” See Full Story
