Mobile, Ala. (September 14, 2022) — After a two-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Visit Mobile relaunched its Tourism Ambassador Program yesterday. Twenty-five participants had a full day of learning, starting at the History Museum of Mobile with a tourism update.

"The ambassador program has had an incredible impact on our visitors' experience here in Mobile, and we're excited to provide it again for our tourism industry partners and the public," David Clark, president and CEO of Visit Mobile, said. "This program is a significant piece to Visit Mobile's mission — to strengthen Mobile's image as a national destination, increase economic stability and enhance the region's quality of life. Educating our local community on the importance of tourism and having them join the effort is imperative."

The five-week program aims to inspire tourism partners and Mobile citizens to turn every visitor encounter into a positive one. Through three in-person sessions and on-your-own assignments, participants will hear from Mobile experts on various topics such as Mobile history, America's Original Mardi Gras, diversity and inclusion, ecotourism, attractions and Mobile's delicious culinary scene. They will also get a sneak peek at new developments and meet with stakeholders in the hospitality industry to learn more about tourism's positive impact on our community.

"This is my second time participating in the ambassador program," Trixie Daniel, assistant manager at Urban Emporium, said. "It was important to me to participate again because our city continues to grow, and I want to stay informed of what's new and exciting! I love working at Urban Emporium because I share what I learn in these courses with thousands of people each year."

After the program, the newly trained ambassadors will be prepared to interact with visitors and answer their questions with greater knowledge of the great things Mobile offers. Upon graduation, each participant receives a certificate and a Visit Mobile Tourism Ambassador lapel pin.

The next Visit Mobile Tourism Ambassador class will begin on Mar. 15, 2023, with registration opening on Jan. 25, 2023. Each class is capped at 25 participants and will take place twice a year. For more information about the program or to register, visit mobile.org/tourism-ambassador
