Howard Munn

E Co. 75th Inf. Rangers

I served in Vietnam 1966-1967 with E Company 75th Infantry Airborne Rangers.  Now, our group has a reunion every two years and I was asked to make a presentation at our 2019 reunion for the 2021 reunion that meant I needed to put together a week's itinerary for 50 Rangers and their families  They would want an activity for each day, restaurant gathering each night and a Memorial Service for those Rangers that have crossed over.  We would need a local hotel, transportation and a final banquet our last day.  I was a bit overwhelmed.

Somewhere along the way, I was referred to Visit Mobile and when the receptionist there heard I was putting together a military reunion, she directed me to Garrett Wagner, Leisure Sales & Events Manager for Visit Mobile. Garrett is a young man with a pleasant smile and a body of energy.  With his help and direction, I was able to put together a tremendous week of entertainment for our Rangers.  Visit Mobile put together a proposal for consideration at our 2019 reunion, the group was so excited they wanted to come to Mobile in 2020.

If anyone reading this is considering a gathering in Mobile, and you want to take advantage of all that the city has to offer, then I highly recommend you meet with Visit Mobile, tell them about your project and I assure you that the result will be so much more than you could possibly have imagined. And, the unbelievable part is that all the help is free!

Destroyer Division 38 Association

Our 2019 Reunion for the Destroyer Division 38 Association (WWII US Navy group) was held in Mobile in September.  We utilized the help and assistance of Mr. Garrett Wagner, who works with Visit Mobile, in securing an excellent hotel - the Holiday Inn Downtown Mobile Historic District - and he assisted us in choosing an excellent charter bus company for our transportation needs - Capitol Colonial Trailways.  The weather was just about perfect and visiting the sites and attractions in and around Mobile were fun and interesting.  There are some really fine seafood restaurants around the area.  I highly recommend anyone visiting Mobile and spending some time there taking in all that it has to offer, and don't forget that Visit Mobile is there to help you.

Reunion Planner

6994 Security Squadron

My wife and I took a very short trip down there earlier this year to see about holding our military reunion in Mobile. It was our first trip to the city and we were pleasantly surprised with the friendliness.  We had no idea how Mardi Gras in Mobile differed with Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Garrett with Visit Mobile took us to some good restaurants and various attractions including the USS ALABAMA and the Mobile Carnival Museum. The visit to GulfQuest Maritime Museum was also amazing.

We originally scheduled our reunion for August of this year but due to the virus and the age of our Air Force members (all Vietnam Veterans), we opted to reschedule it in Mobile in August 2021. Both Garrett and the hotel had no issues with us rescheduling. Because of what we learned and experienced in Mobile for those few days, we are glad we chose the city of Mobile for our next reunion. We are looking forward to working with Visit Mobile in the near future and can't wait to let other reunion planners know what a great place Mobile is to hold a reunion.
