About the Program:
The I Am Mobile! Tourism Ambassador Program will equip attendees to be an expert on all things Mobile! Covering history, the arts, eco-tourism, Mardi Gras, and more! Additionally, a showcase of the area's attractions, businesses, special events, and services will be a main facet. Through this program, attendees will become a certified ambassador and be an integral part of improving the visitor experience. The goal in the years to come is to have thousands of ambassadors advancing tourism in our area through increased visitor numbers, return visits, and visitor spending.
The knowledge and skills gained from this program can be utilized to further both the tourism industry as a whole and ambassador's personal careers. Become inspired about the Mobile area through the I Am Mobile! Tourism Ambassador Program!
What to expect during the six week program and beyond?
Attendees will participate in an initial class featuring expert speakers on the topics mentioned above and take a guided downtown walking tour. The weeks following will be spent independently where attendees will visit six area attractions and complete five online quizzes. Halfway through the program, participants will go on a half day city trolley tour. The course will conclude with a final class gathering of all attendees.
Perks to being a part of the course include an attractions pass with free admission, weekly prize drawings for the top quiz scorers, and a weekend "staycation" at an area hotel for the class Celebratorian (valedictorian). Also, this is an excellent way to become more familiar with all of Mobile's amazing offerings whether new to the area or born and raised. Once certified, ambassadors will be given many opportunities to volunteer at local conventions/conferences, events, and gatherings.
