Why is tourism important?
Tourism creates jobs, brings in money to the local economy, and enhances the quality of life for citizens of Mobile. Here in Mobile, tourism accounts for $1.5 billion dollars in economic impact and supports over 18,000 jobs.
Why choose the Visit Mobile Tourism Ambassador Program?
The program is designed to engage locals in the tourism experience. We ask ambassadors-in-training to think like a tourist and see the city through new eyes. Throughout the five weeks, the class will experience attractions first-hand, taste local cuisine and learn about the history that makes Mobile the city "born to celebrate".
At the completion of the program, ambassadors will receive a certificate of completion, VMTAP label pin and will be ready to support community events and everyday encounters! We want every visitor to leave excited to return to Mobile.

How do I talk my employer into allowing me to take this course? This course provides a great opportunity to learn about all aspects of Mobile. Whether or not you work in a position directly impacted by tourism, each citizen and organization benefits from visitors. The more you know, the more you can share and give back to the community. We are all in this together!
-
Are all classes mandatory? Yes! There is so much to learn and so little time.
-
Is there a virtual class option? We feel like it is important to get out and experience the city, so in person is currently the only class option.
-
What will I experience outside of class time? Get ready for some challenges involving your attractions pass. We want you to take time to explore the city on your own and find the spots that feel unique to you. You will share what you find on social media and of course, who doesn’t like the chance to win a prize for having fun?
-
How many people will be in my class? Each class will be capped at 25 people.
