Mobile Rings in 2027 with Five-Time Grammy Winner, Live Music and the Iconic MoonPie Drop

Mobile is ready to say goodbye to 2026 and welcome 2027 in signature style. On Thursday, December 31, 2026, thousands will fill the streets of downtown Mobile for MoonPie Over Mobile, the city’s signature New Year’s Eve celebration featuring live music, family-friendly festivities and the iconic giant MoonPie Drop at midnight.

This year’s celebration will be headlined by five-time Grammy Award-winning artist CeeLo Green, whose unmistakable voice and larger-than-life stage presence have made him one of music’s most recognizable performers. From his beginnings with Southern hip-hop group Goodie Mob to his global success with Gnarls Barkley and as a solo artist, CeeLo is known for hits including “Crazy” and the multi-platinum “Forget You.” He is also well known as one of the original coaches on NBC’s The Voice, where he served for four seasons and returned in 2026 as a Mega Mentor for Season 29.

The fun kicks off with the Kids Zone at Mardi Gras Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., including the beloved MoonPie Noon Year’s Eve Drop for families at noon. In the evening, the Best Decorated Umbrella Contest returns, complete with a street party performance by The Jukebox Brass Band. After the cutting of the World’s Largest Edible MoonPie, the band will lead a lively second line parade to the Main Stage at Bienville Square.

Once the crowd gathers at the Main Stage, city leaders and longtime MoonPie champion Fred Richardson will offer remarks before The Jukebox Brass Band kicks the night up a notch with its high-octane sound and modern spin on traditional brass band music.

Next up is Mobile’s own Symone French and the Trouille Troupe. Coined Mobile’s “Mistress of Soul,” French has established herself as a vocal powerhouse since beginning her career in 2014. She has appeared on American Idol and NBC’s The Voice, performed at the Joshua Tree Music Festival and in Mobile Ballet’s adaptation of The Princess & the Frog, and most recently opened for Grammy Award-winning artist Macy Gray on the Mobile stop of her 25th anniversary tour.

CeeLo Green will then take the Main Stage to lead Mobile into the final hours of 2026. Between sets, a DJ will keep the party going with crowd favorites before and after the live acts.

At midnight, the giant MoonPie drops from the top of the RSA Trustmark Building, joined by a fun pyro display near the Main Stage, to officially welcome in 2027 on the streets of downtown Mobile.
