Visit Mobile is celebrating National Travel & Tourism Week, an annual tradition highlighting the U.S. travel community and tourism’s essential role in stimulating economic growth, cultivating vibrant communities, creating quality job opportunities, inspiring new businesses and elevating the quality of life for Americans every day. This year, National Travel & Tourism Week is May 3 – 9, 2026.
“The city’s booming developments, infrastructure and industry advancements are producing positive changes in Mobile, and travel and tourism commerce is crucial to the success of these investments,” said David Clark, President & CEO of Visit Mobile.
According to data collected by the Alabama Tourism Department, the State of Alabama and Smith Travel Research, nearly 3.5 million visitors traveled to Mobile in 2025. These visitors accounted for almost $1.9 billion in travel-related spending in Mobile, both metrics consistent with the previous year’s results.
In 2025, more than 23,000 jobs in Mobile County were travel-related, the third-highest share among Alabama’s counties, at 9.1% of the state's total jobs.
Clark also expressed his appreciation for Mobile’s elected officials and their support of tourism, including the new downtown international airport, Regions Arena and recent advances in cultural heritage and eco-tourism initiatives, which will significantly enhance future metrics.
“We remain grateful for our industry partners and all who support our destination for connecting our amazing city and its visitors,” said Patty Kieffer, Senior Vice President of Visit Mobile. “We sincerely appreciate Mobile’s hotel industry, as they continue to be travel and tourism innovators.”
