Visit Mobile is excited to celebrate National Travel & Tourism Week, an annual tradition to highlight the U.S. travel community and tourism’s essential role in stimulating economic growth, cultivating vibrant communities, creating quality job opportunities, inspiring new businesses and elevating the quality of life for Americans every day.

“Travel and tourism commerce is crucial to the success of every industry and will continue to be a critical part of the City of Mobile’s economy, development and workforce,” said David Clark, President & CEO of Visit Mobile. “Mobile’s economic impact from tourism in 2023 includes important increases and record numbers.”

Mayor Sandy Stimpson has proclaimed May 19 – 25, 2024 as National Travel and Tourism Week in the City of Mobile, saying “I urge the citizens of Mobile to join me in recognizing the essential role this industry plays.”

According to data collected by the Alabama Tourism Department and the State of Alabama, more than 3.4 million visitors traveled to Mobile in 2023, a three percent increase from the previous year. These visitors accounted for $1.8 billion in total travel-related spend in Mobile.  

In 2023, Visit Mobile booked more than 112,000 room nights at local hotels, a record year for Mobile. Additionally, more than 22,000 jobs in Mobile during that year were travel-related employment.
