Visit Mobile is excited to celebrate National Travel & Tourism Week, an annual tradition highlighting the U.S. travel community and tourism’s essential role in stimulating economic growth, cultivating vibrant communities, creating quality job opportunities, inspiring new businesses and elevating the quality of life for Americans every day.

According to data collected by the Alabama Tourism Department and the State of Alabama, nearly 3.5 million visitors traveled to Mobile in 2024, a 2.2% increase from the previous year. This represents the largest growth of major cities in the state. These visitors accounted for $1.9 billion in travel-related spending in Mobile, a 4.6% increase from 2023.
In 2024, nearly 23,500 jobs in Mobile were travel-related employment, a 4.3% increase from the previous year.

Clark also expressed his appreciation for Mobile’s elected officials and their support of tourism, including the new downtown airport, civic center arena complex and recent approval of the Tourism Improvement District, which will significantly enhance future tourism metrics. On Tuesday, May 6, at the regular meeting of the Mobile City Council, Mayor Sandy Stimpson will proclaim May 4 – 10, 2025, as National Travel and Tourism Week in the City of Mobile.
