"Connecting landmarks that standard city maps tend to overlook."

A great history tour does more than list dates and facts - it brings the past to life. These experiences take you to the places where history unfolded, with immersive stops that feature original artifacts, preserved architecture and meaningful settings that bring each story into sharper focus.

Dora Franklin Finley African American Heritage Trail has earned a nomination for USA Today's 10 Best Readers' Choice Awards for Best History Tour in 2026 by a panel of experts because the Trail stands out for its compelling, well-researched storytelling and guides who know how to truly engage their guests.

According to USA Today, "Mobile's African American history runs deep, and the Dora Franklin Finley African American Heritage Trail makes sure it's visible to all. Guided tours trace the remarkable legacy of Black Mobilians across generations from slavery and Reconstruction through the Civil Rights era, connecting landmarks that standard city maps tend to overlook."
