It’s the most wonderful time of the year! In Mobile, we celebrate all year round, but the holidays add an even more festive and fun-loving touch. Deck the halls with all of the cheery seasonal joy your heart can muster this year in the Port City. Here are a few events and experiences that make your holiday season one to remember!

Christmas at Africatown Heritage House | December 7

Celebrate the magic of the holiday season in remembrance of the 110 survivors of the Clotilda during Christmas at Africatown Heritage House on December 7. Enjoy hands-on arts and crafts, special performances, photos with Santa Claus and free entrance into the exhibit from 11 am-3 pm.


Mobile Museum of Art’s Holiday Market & Open House | December 14

Christmas with an artsy twist. On December 14, from 2 to 5 p.m., indulge in live music, food trucks, and shopping from local vendors during the Mobile Museum of Art’s Holiday Market and Open House. Don’t forget to check out the museum’s exhibits! 
 

Historic Home Tour | December 14

Explore some of Mobile’s most iconic landmarks during the Historic Homes Tour on December 14. The Kate Shepard House, Government St. United Methodist Church and other historic homes will be decorated for the holiday season and available for viewing. After the tour, Love and Adventure Studios will host a market featuring various local vendors and food trucks on the grounds of the Historic Oakleigh House. Baker and Murphy High School choirs will be performing at The Historic Oakleigh House throughout the day.


Christmas at the Castle | December 14

On December 14, from 9:30 am-2 pm, nerd out over engaging in festive-infused STEM demonstrations at Exploreum Science Center’s Christmas at the Castle. Visit the museum’s newest exhibit, The Amazing Castle, and watch a special viewing of Disney’s Frozen in the PCI Digital Dome Theater.


MoonPie Over Mobile New Year Celebration | December 31

Name a better way to welcome the new year than to watch a 600-pound electric MoonPie glide down the side of RSA Tower. We'll wait! On New Year's Eve, join us downtown for MoonPie Over Mobile. Throughout the day, there will be family-friendly events and activities to enjoy. Evening performances from the Port City Second Liners, The Juke Box Brass Band, Grayson Capps and headliner Clint Black will be guaranteed highlights of the event. Holiday Dining

The holidays aren’t complete without a delicious meal (or three.) Between Bienville Bites Food Tours’ Jingle Bell Brunch on select Saturdays in December and LeMoyne Chophouse’s stunning Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve menus, there will be plenty of delicious options for you to indulge in. The Renaissance Riverview Plaza and Battle House Hotels are offering brunch and dinner on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

If you aren’t trying to catch the Arctic Express at Wales West Light Rail, then what are you doing? Take a trek to the North Pole and make new memories along the way.


Magic Christmas in Lights at Bellingrath Gardens & Home

Bellingrath Gardens and Home’s Magic Christmas in Lights is one of Mobile’s most cherished and prized holiday traditions. Wander through the gardens’ 65 acres and fall in love with the thousands of light displays that adorn the grounds. Tours of the Bellingrath home are also available for an extra dose of holiday magic. 


Holidays at the Grand Hotel Resort & Spa

The Grand Hotel Resort & Spa never fails to “wow” us, and its holiday festivities will be no different. Kick off the holiday season at the Grand Hotel with family Olympics, Grand Express train rides and a buffet fit for royalty during Thanksgiving. On Fridays and Saturdays in December, participate in various events during the 2nd Annual Grand Holiday Stroll. Other happenings include a gingerbread workshop and photo sessions with Santa.
