January 5 | 12th Night Kickoff Celebration + RSA Tower Lighting
Braided River Brewing Co’s 12th Night Kickoff Celebration is one of the most anticipated events of the year. Enjoy the release of two of the brewery’s Mardi Gras-themed beers, king cakes from local bakeries, a concert featuring the Blowhouse Brass Band and more! Dance the night away under the RSA Tower as it glows purple and gold to welcome the beginning of the Mardi Gras season.

January 9 | City of Mobile’s Lighting of the Mardi Gras Tree
Oh, Mardi Gras tree! Oh, Mardi Gras tree! How lovely are thou beads and branches? Celebrate the beginning of the carnival season at Mardi Gras Park in downtown Mobile from 6-8 pm. The Excelsior, Blow House Brass and Jukebox Brass Bands will be performing. 

January 10 | Black Jacket Symphony performs The Beatles’ Abbey Road
Just imagine The Beatles’ “Come Together” and “Here Comes the Sun” performed by a melodic symphony. Your dreams can become a reality on January 10. The Black Jacket Symphony will be performing the Beatles’ Abbey Road album.

January 10 | Painted Pages : Illuminated Manuscripts, 13th – 18th Centuries Exhibit opens at the History Museum of Mobile
The History Museum of Mobile always keeps us on our toes! On January 10, the Painted Pages: Illuminated Manuscripts, 13th—18th Centuries Exhibit will open at the museum. Reflect on historic moments while glancing over collections of medieval Bibles, choir books, lectionaries and more.

January 17 | The Souls of Time
On January 17 at the Saenger Theater, experience the self-acceptance and self-love journey of Jade, a young girl from Mobile, who is transported back to 1963 to experience life as a Black teen during segregation as you watch the musical drama, SOULS OF TIME. Through this journey, she discovers her cultural heritage, the history of Mobile, and her own resilience. Featuring talented Gulf Coast performers, this production blends fiction and history into an unforgettable experience.

January 18 | Art, Dance & Music at Mobile Museum of Art
Immerse yourself in the (Un)Settled: The Landscape in American Art exhibit at the Mobile Museum of Art during the Art, Dance & Music event. Enjoy a free, special Art Talk session with Charles Smith, a local artist whose work is featured in the exhibit, performances from the Mobile, Alabama Africatown Drummers and traditional African step lessons from dance instructor Gloria Petit-Williams.

January 25 | Historic Blakeley State Park Tours: Cruise to the Site of Old Mobile: Alabama's First European Settlement and Excursion to the Bottle Creek Indian Mound Complex
On January 25, the Historic Blakeley State Park is pulling out all of the stops. At 9 am, join the excursion to view the Bottle Creek Mound Complex. That afternoon at 1, sail through the waters of the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta to the site of Mobile’s first European settlement, which was established in 1702.
