Catholic Cemetery, formerly known as the Stone Street Cemetery, is a historic 150-acre cemetery listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was stablished by the Archdiocese of Mobile on December 18, 1848 when the first acreage was purchased north of Three Mile Creek. Notable internments include Father Abram Joseph Ryan, widely known as the "Poet-Priest of the Confederacy," and Admiral Raphael Semmes, captain of the famous commerce raider CSS ALABAMA.
