Jimmy Buffett Statue - Coming soon to Mobile Waterfront

Nationally renowned sculptor Ben Victor has been selected to create a lifelike statue of Jimmy Buffett for Mobile's downtown riverfront.

The statue will be 7.5 feet tall and depict Jimmy Buffett playing his guitar, gazing out over the water. The sculpture is scheduled to be unveiled in September 2026.

Jimmy Buffett Experience, The National Maritime Museum of the Gulf - Coming Soon

A new immersive exhibit will open in September 2026 at the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf. This one of a kind exhibit will showcase Jimmy Buffett's life and music career, as well as his impact along the Gulf Coast.

The exhibit will include numerous artifacts, unreleased recordings, videos, and behind-the-scenes footage from his fantastic career.

Mobile Carnival Museum - Reopening Monday October 13th

The Mobile Carnival Museum is due to reopen in October 2025 after a comprehensive restoration that included new lighting, fresh paint, refreshed floors, and every single display being reviewed and cleaned.

DeMaiz Taco Cantina - Coming Soon

DeMaiz Taco Cantina will be opening on Dauphin Street in the former Southern National Building.

Fairhope Brewing - Now Open

Fairhope Brewing is now open, where Wingman Brewing used to be in Mobile. They have converted the brewery to showcase the Fairhope Brewing beers, host events, and more.

Mobile Pro Hockey - Coming October 2027

Southern Professional Hockey League SPHL Hockey is coming to Mobile in October 2027! The city is asking for help with naming the new hockey team.

They will debut at the Mobile Arena during the 2027-28 season. The Mobile Arena is currently under construction and will be a 10,000 seat venue.

Roy's Sando Club - Open at the Insider

Roy's Sando Club has opened at The Insider in downtown Mobile. They have epic sandwiches including BLT, Grilled Cheese, Cubano press, Bama bay roll, and more.

St. Louis Street Project

The St. Louis Street Project will rebuild 17 blocks in downtown Mobile. The project will add new landscaping, street lighting, ada crossings, improve water sewer and gas lines, and improve stormwater drainage.

Hall of Fame Walk

Mobile is celebrating its sports legends with the new Hall of Fame Walk in front of the Arthur R. Outlaw Mobile Convention Center.

The Hall of Fame Walk honors six Hall of Fame ahtletes who were born and raised in Mobile, Alabama.

The honorees include National Baseball Hall of Fame members Henry "Hank" Aaron, Satchel Paige, Billy Williams, Ozzie Smith, and Willie McCovey, as well as Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee and former Houston Oiler Robert Brazile Jr.

Amtrak Service to New Orleans - Now Running

Amtrak Mardi Gras service from Mobile to New Orleans is now running with two daily trips.

The route makes four stops in Mississippi - Bay St. Louis, Gulfport, Biloxi, and Pascagoula.

Mobile Arena - Under Construction

With the removal of the former Mobile Civic Center, the City of Mobile is building a new world-class arena.

The new Mobile Arena should be completed in 2027. The arena design includes flexible seating and layout options, multiple ballrooms, and concert options.

American Cruise Lines - Mobile Port of Call in March 2026

American Cruise Line will dock in Mobile with its American Symphony cruise ship in March 2026 as part of the new Gulf Coast Cruise Itinerary.

The Gulf Coast Cruise Itinerary will travel from New Orleans to Pensacola with stops Mobile, Biloxi, Ocean Springs, and Gulfport.

The American Symphony will dock behind the National Maritime Museum.

Carnival Cruise Line - Resumes year-round sailings from Mobile in 2027

Carnival Cruise Line will resume year-round sailings from Mobile, Alabama in Spring 2027.

Carnival has not announced which ship will call Mobile home in 2027. For 2026 the Carnival Spirit will be returning in October.

Tiny Titans Hatching the Past - Now open at the Exploreum

A new Tiny Titans Dinosaur exhibit is open at The Exploreum Science Center in Mobile!

This hands-on exhibit offers the opportunity to see the lives of dinosaurs from hatching.

Galileo The Science of Antiquity is opening January 27 - May 23, 2026 at the Exploreum.
